Me:

Hi there,

My name is Frans Droog and I am a Teacher in Science (grades 7-9) and  in Biology (grades 9-12). When need be I also sometimes teach Math, Physics and Chemistry. I have worked for about 13 years as a teacher now,  before that I have a Researcher in Molecular Biology for about 10 years.

My hobbies include my work, but also my dogs, walking, reading, (watching) sports. I am very interested in using technology in the classroom and am quite active on different social media.

I have been participating in Learning Circles now for about 10 years and I think they are a great way to have students from all over the world connect and interact. I am looking very much forward to doing so again this year, on this very special one, dedicated to Children's Rights.

If you have any questions feel free to ask!

My school:

Our school is the   Wolfert Lyceum (http://www.wolfert.nl/lyceum/) in Bergschenhoek, a small town very close to Rotterdam, which is famous for being one of the largest ports in the world. We work in guidance with the principles of Dalton education. This means in our case we learn and teach according to the three principles: independence, freedom in connectedness, coöperation.

The participants:

The class we will be doing this Learning Circle with is comprised of a group of students from class 2 and 3-VWO, which is grade 8-9, who have chosen to participate as part of their extracurricular activities.

Hi! I‘am Kaddijatou Dem. I’am  a 15 years old student at Wolfert Lyceum. I’am now at my second year of atheneum. English and science are my favourite subjects, but I hate drama. My hobby’s are playing football and hanging out with friends. In my spare time I rather like watching TV or go outside. By joining the ‘Learning Circle’ I hope to learn more at the end, be able to understand other cultures and of course to have fun.

Hi,

My name is Esther, I’m thirteen years old and I live in the Netherlands, in Rotterdam with my younger brother and parents. I’m in the second class of secondary school in ‘gymnasium’, the highest level of my school. My favourite subjects are theatre and art. My hobbies are reading, drawing, the sport survival and doing things with friends. The Learning Circle looks interesting to me, because I think that I will learn much about other cultures.

Esther
